Esperanza Spalding (a trained jazz artist) beat out Justin Bieber this year for Best New Artist at the Grammy's. Know why that pumps me up? Because she's actually an artist. This girl received so much bashing from Bieber fans. I read an interview with her though and she took it like a champ. One comment on this music video made me actually laugh out loud:
"She has a nice voice but I do think Justin deserved that Grammy. He worked really hard to get it."
Clearly someone who was a concertmaster at age 15, plays a diverse range of instruments (oboe, violin, clarinet, cello, bass, etc.), went to Berklee College of Music (with a full ride scholarship) and ended up becoming a professor there at age 20 (all this on top of coming from a single parent family in the ghetto) doesn't qualify as working "really hard" to get where they are....
It's tough putting a youtube video up and getting famous from all the young hormornal girls that're easily enticed by a cute boy. Totally. You're right, what am I saying? Life's hard for Bieber.
